How can I start using the space?
Once you become a member, you will need to come to an orientation session. If you need a separate time, request one on our #new-member Slack channel. At orientation you will receive your key, giving you 24/7 access to the space. If you want to use equipment that requires training, you will need to plan a time for training first. You can coordinate a time in person, in #new-member, or in the shop channel for the space you are interested in, e.g. #shop-wood.
What is Slack?
Slack is a team-oriented communication platform that we use for distributing details, getting things done, and hanging out! It is open to members and you will get an invite link once you sign up. Check out our getting started guide.
Who can teach classes, workshops, or hold events in the space?
We encourage members and non members to host their event or workshop at the Makerspace. Members can host their own private events at any time (following guidelines set in our Rights and Responsibilities agreement). We can work with members and non members to host and advertise classes on our event calendar.
If you are not a member but would like to teach a class in the space, please contact us at info@bereamakerspace.org
Are you insured?
Yes! We have liability insurance through Al Torstrick Insurance Agency. Members are responsible for their own medical insurance.
Can I come and visit?
Absolutely! Check our Open House page to find out how to come and see us.
Event refund policy
Currently, events can only be refunded for credit towards future events. No-shows from the event attendee are not refunded. Special considerations (moving, death or injury) and transfers can be conducted through either email or messenger correspondence - please reach out to us at info@bereamakerspace.org if this arises.
